From time to time, our clients need us to consider accessibility while designing their new homes and Hillside is one such home.  The design for Hillside proves that wider access ways and level thresholds, amongst other access considerations, are possible in buildings with a smaller footprint, built on a slope and with a fantastic modern aesthetic. 

While views were important in the design, the massing of this home was very carefully considered to ensure that sunlight and thermal gain could be provided from as many rooms as possible for as much of the day as possible in winter.  This would lessen the heating requirements of the building in winter while shading from the roof overhang will prevent overheating in summer.
