how we can work together
with over twenty years experience in architecture, there are many ways we can help you to design your dream space
-
Architecture + Design
Mattinson Associates Ltd. is an award-winning architectural practice with extensive experience in both the commercial and the domestic sectors. The services we provide generally follow the Royal Institute of British Architects [RIBA] work stages and include every aspect of an architect’s role from the initial conversations on-site to after construction. Not all commissions require a full architectural service and we are happy to provide any aspect of the work stages. Our strength lies in creative, bespoke buildings that are both beautiful and functional.

Conservation Architecture
Having worked on many historic properties, we take careful consideration when joining the old and new. To create a truly beautiful space, we have successful experience in designing creative spaces that celebrate the historic elements of a building whilst also being functional for modern-day life. There are many conservations areas on the Isle of Wight that need preserving, so we ensure that we work closely with key heritage bodies to protect our built environment. This can include delving into the background of a building with old newspapers, census' and maps to understand how we can enhance the historic architecture and then putting together the relevant documentation to support the proposal.

Master Planning
A well-considered master plan is a strategic tool when it comes to future developments. A master plan can help clients see the full capability of their site - this can be helpful when applying for additional finance, selling the scheme as a whole and creating a well thought out space for future users. Our starting point is always to ensure that any existing buildings are utilised to their full potential before new construction is considered. Whether it's designing a premium housing estate or working with other collaborators for larger regeneration projects, we care about the built environment and want to see thoughtful, durable and sustainable homes there for future generations on our Island and further afield.
-
Interior Design
To make sure the exterior and interiors work cohesively together, we offer interior design services. Our reputation for interior architecture standards has been recognised in praise from our cherished clients. To design a space that is bespoke to your lifestyle, we work with our clients during the entire design process so we can enhance the way they live. In more recent years, we have been working towards specifying interior finishes that are eco friendly - so your spaces contribute towards improving your health and wellbeing. With our new CAD software and expert technicians on hand, we can even help build your property in a digital model so you can virtually walk around the spaces and envisage your new life in your beautiful new home.
-
Landscape Design
Similarly to our interior architecture services, we believe the landscape needs to mimic the architecture that it sits alongside. For example, maybe you have a traditional victorian property with a contemporary rear extension, perhaps the front garden will be flooded with white roses and the back garden with scattered with bold hostas and agapanthus. We intend to always capture the spirit of the space, and create a lasting beauty that gives individuality to any landscape. Our work spans all project sizes and complexity, from small private gardens and courtyards to large complex commercial landscapes.

Feasibility Studies + Business Cases
Mattinson Associates provides front-end consultancy and innovative concept design solutions during the early stages of any project. All commercial projects start with feasibility studies of varying depth and even some of our bespoke residential projects follow the same route. A feasibility study investigates and evaluates the potential of a site or building. It sets out a brief history of the site, its overall condition and significance as well as the constraints and opportunities. Design options are developed, compared, and a preferred option is established and a programme of work identified.
